I am from Ghana, and I've struggle with this a lot. Most house holds will have a trash can next to the flushing toilet. Personally I hardly use that, I just flush it away when I'm done.

I always feel as though I'm doing something wrong when I visit family or go somewhere with a provision like a trash can and I still flush the toilet paper away.
