My UTC+0 Time zone Bubble Popped

Until a few years ago, my everyday life was all under the cloud of UTC+0 timezone. There was zero worries about other forms of time —and why should I? My personal life, my work life and everything that mattered to me were all within the same space and time — UTC+0.

If you asked me about what life under UTC+0 was like, I would have with a big smile, without flinching responded with — oh! I loved the simple life — my life was easier and without confusion.

However, my long lived euphoria and mindless bliss inside UTC+0 ended when I started working remotely. Yes, I landed my first remote job and got thrown into the world of other time zones. The psychological changes I needed to make became immediately clear after I missed my first interview simply because I mixed up the time zones. But how can you blame me? My whole life had been in a single timezone — UTC+0.

Lucky for me, that confusion didn’t cost me the job, the meeting got rescheduled and that interview plus a few more later I received an offer from the company.

My first few weeks proofed hectic and surreal as I had to learn to adjust quickly. I had to wake up a couple of hours earlier…
